A Letter for Foreign Participants of the Grand Wutai Pilgrimage

Dear participant,

2017 Grand Wutai Pilgrimage, 2nd Edition will start at June 17. Here are matters needing attention:

 ☁  Race pack collection ☁ 

Race pack collection at banquet hall, Jindushanzhuang Hotel (金都山庄), Taihuai town, Wutaishan, at Friday (2 pm to 6 pm). Please remember to bring your identity certificate (passport, Visa or MTPs).

 ☁ Starting time ☁ 

Grand Wutai Pilgrimage Group (including solo & team, 70km): 

Saturday June 17, 2017 at 4:00 am.

Sitai Counter-clockwise Traverse Group (40km): 

Saturday June 17, 2017 at 6 am.

 ☁ Weather forecast ☁ 

The weather of June 17 is drizzle. Temperature: 10 – 22℃ (50.0 - 71.6℉)

Wutaishan's climate is highly variable. Fleece jacket, down jacket and some other warm clothes are recommended. In case of extreme weather, the race could be suspended or canceled.

 ☁ Mandatory Equipment ☁ 

Please carry with and check all mandatory equipment. Following is the list of mandatory equipment:

• A backpack that can contain all gears above;

• Stock of water minimum 1.5 liter (bottle or bladder);

• Jacket and trousers with waterproof membrane;

• Mobile phone with more than 16 hours standby time and enough battery;

• A headlamp with replacement batteries;

• GPS devices loading Grand Wutai Pilgrimage's GPX file. For example, navigable GPS watch or handset. Smart phone with navigation apps which can load the GPX file is the minimum requirement. If you chose smart phone, a full charged power bank with more than 10000mAh is mandatory;

• Survival blanket;

• Whistle.

Above is mandatory equipment. Each participant will need to carry with or wear them at all times during the race. Organizing committee will strictly check mandatory equipment when taking race pack collection, before and during the race. Any lack, or inconformity will lead to disqualification of the race of participant and team.

 ☁ How to get to the Starting Point ☁ 

At the race day (Saturday June 17), race shuttle bus to the starting point will wait at Jindushanzhuang Hotel (金都山庄), please make your way in time.

• Departure time of Grand Wutai Pilgrimage Group (including solo & team, 70km): 3:00 am.

• Departure time of Sitai Counter-clockwise Traverse Group (40km): 5:00 am.

P.S. If you have ordered the shuttle bus between Beijing and Wutaishan on the official website, please note:

• From Beijing to Wutaishan: The bus will wait at Beijing Gongzhufen (公主坟) Subway Station, Port A. The departure time is Friday June 16, 8:00 am.

• From Wutaishan to Beijing, 2 bus schedules, please get to Jindushanzhuang Hotel (金都山庄) in time: 

  1. Sunday June 18, 9:30 am;

  2. Sunday June 18, 12:30 pm.
